The Company


Our client is the largest division of a $6+ Billion specialty chemical and resin manufacturer is seeking a Master Black Belt operating out of one of their key facilities.  The company is the world’s largest supplier of thermoset resins to a wide variety of markets including composites, electronic, coatings, and inks.  Senior corporate management are staunch supporters of Lean/Six Sigma continuous improvement and have an accomplished mentoring program providing career growth for Lean Six Sigma professionals.


 


The Position


The Master Black Belt will directly manage the North American Lean/Six Sigma team of approximately ten Black Belts spread over several locations.  The Master Black Belt will also lead and mentor significant growth, productivity, and cost savings projects using standard global Six Sigma program tools and methods while working with functional and regional leaders.  This MBB, reporting to the Vice President – Global Six Sigma and Master Black Belt, will execute high impact projects using Six Sigma methodology supporting the business, functions, and manufacturing sites.  He/she will develop project scope, objectives, and metrics that coach, mentor, and assist Black Belts and Green Belt project teams as well as provide input on priorities.  The MBB will also help deliver training in support of the business training plan and priorities.  In addition, the Master Black Belt will work with the VP – Global Six Sigma to deploy Six Sigma across all business functions as well as work with process owners to translate functional goals into Six Sigma strategies, projects, and quantifiable results.  Travel will likely be in the 35 – 50% range.


 


Candidate Qualifications


The candidate must be a certified Master Black Belt, with three years experience in this role.  The candidate should also have a minimum of ten years industrial experience in a manufacturing environment.  Other qualifications include:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical is preferred) or physical science

  • Experience in specialty chemicals, plastics, or coatings manufacturing is preferred

  • 5-7 years total Six Sigma experience

  • Demonstrated success managing and mentoring Black Belts

  • Experience in the development and delivery of Six Sigma training programs.

  • Proven track record of successfully completing multiple lean and other Black Belt projects

  • Large project experience

  • Leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and drive consensus

  • Strong ability to lead and drive change

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Quantitative, analytical and problem solving ability

  • Teambuilding and relationship management skills

  • Project Management skills

  • Ability to influence senior managers

  • Skilled at Minitab or JMP software


 


Compensation


Compensation is competitive, commensurate with experience, and includes an attractive bonus plan.  The client offers a complete benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and flexible spending account.
