Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Engines

COMPANY:  This is a well funded domestic start-up developing innovative scalable greentech energy storage systems.  This is a ground floor opportunity to contribute your theoretical mechanical engineering design skills including engine design, DFM and mathematical modeling in challenging technical projects that will have a significant positive impact on global warming in what is projected to be a $100 Billion market.  You will be working with a small group of highly intelligent physicists and engineers working on practical problems for commercial products.  They not only offer an excellent benefits package including medical, dental and vision along with relocation assistance, but for this position they are also offering equity ownership in the company.   
DUTIES:  This person will be responsible for contributing to the group their skills and abilities in the areas of theoretical and practical design of engines, pistons/seals, and/or air compressors.  System design should be based on engineering principles, not just working with vendors to specify components.  Design for manufacturability in the design of these products is required.   This person will be working with a team of highly intelligent physicists, electrical and mechanical engineers through their design development, prototyping and subsequent manufacturing processes.

REQUIREMENTS:  This person will have a minimum of a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a PhD preferred and a minimum of 5 years of hands-on design experience with engines, pistons/seals and/or air compressors.  Experience may include hydraulics, pneumatics and experience with multiphase (gas/fluid) flows.  Skills will also include theoretical design, mathematical modeling and design for manufacturability.  This individual will be highly creative and innovative – they will be self-motivated and able to work effectively with a highly skilled team.  They will possess good communication and presentation skills as well as being very computer literate.  Any experience with or knowledge of power systems ranging from 100KW to 2 MW would be highly desired.
