Consulting Practice Leader

Summary
The Director of Consulting Services is responsible for the growth and profitability of the interventional consulting group of the Consulting & Educational (CES) Division. Additionally this person is responsible for continuously developing and improving the programs, resources and technologies used by the consulting team to ensure that its services are state of the art and produce a high impact on client performance outcomes. The Director ensures that the interventional consultants are competent and confident as well as holds them accountable to productivity, profitability, and client satisfaction and performance outcomes metrics. This person will create and adhere to an annual budget, departmental plan, and appropriate staffing plans – as well as ensure achieving overall project timelines and outcomes as established in the project scope. The Director will also manage the external consulting staff, ensure that they are committed to Press Ganey’s values and core philosophies and adhere to company policies
Primary responsibilities include:
• Create innovative and powerful consulting programs that achieve breakthrough results for clients by leveraging traditional consulting approaches.
• Provide leadership to the consultants and relationship executives (Sales Team) for project scope and pricing during the proposal phase.
• Monitor consultants’ effectiveness through tracking of key performance metrics of productivity, utility, scope delivery, client satisfaction, and profitability.
• Design, implement and utilize technology to automate the performance metrics for consulting.
• Provide expertise, leadership and act as a mentor to consulting team on consulting principles and basic tools to ensure a high quality and consistent approach to client projects.
• Monitor the professional services industry for innovative approaches to integrate into the ongoing department plan.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the following:
• Significant experience in developing and managing a high-performing consulting/professional services organization.
• Ability to lead and direct staff on traditional consulting methods, tools and techniques as well as innovative and proprietary approaches.
• Knowledge and experience in designing high value consulting and improvement strategies in the health care market.
• Strong leadership skills such as strategic thinking, analytical approach and ability to deal with difficult situations.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguous or uncertain situations with authority, calm and decisiveness.
• Be able to think quickly and make good decisions with limited information. Demonstrated time management skills and be highly organized.
• Strong communication skills including the ability to coach and discipline highly skilled professionals.
• Demonstrated use of performance metrics used to manage a high performing consulting organization including utility rates, productivity rates, performance to budget ratios, project profitability, milestone performance, etc.
• Possess knowledge of PSO tracking systems to assist in the development and utilization of a PSA system to maximize productivity and profitability of the business.
• Able to engage a professional team to achieve world-class performance. Inspire them to think outside the box and develop innovative solutions for clients.
• Proven ability to work creatively with the sales team as a partner.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business with a MBA preferred. Our ideal candidate will have proven consulting services experience with 3-5 years of consulting management experience preferably in the health care industry. 20% travel will be required.
