JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client, a multi-national well known food manufacturer is looking for a dynamic Plant Manager to lead operations at their Springfield IL area plant.


 


 This location is a 220+ nonunion high volume, highly automated facility that is a recognized “bench mark” plant for the Division. This position is open due to recent promotion


 


The plant manager will be ensuring a quality product is safely manufactured in sanitary conditions with motivated and engaged associates, within cost goals, and in sufficient quantities to meet customers’ demands. This includes providing strategic leadership, preparing the site for the future while safeguarding existing assets, providing the business with new capabilities, managing new product introductions and ultimately increasing the value and usefulness of the assets. Strong leadership skills focused on communication, motivation, inspiration, change management, associate development and business competency development are required. 


 


 Continuous improvement is a key aspect of this role. It will be accomplished through developing and maintaining an organization that demonstrates improvement by continuously driving faults lower.


 


 


 


Responsibilities


 





  • Driving “Supply” best practices and establishing standards and metrics across the site.



  • Act as the "custodian and advocate for the brands" for all products produced at the site and assume ultimate responsibility for the quality of those products.



  • Deliver or exceed agreed site business performance metrics in the area of cost, quality, freshness, customer service, inventory management, etc.



  • Lead and develop a high performing team to drive the Company philosophies, goals and objectives through the organization. 



  • To identify and develop associates in the leadership pipeline.



  • Provide leadership to ensure that the site has the safest possible working conditions and that all site associates are properly trained and engaged with respect to safety.



  • Ensure that proper procedures, activities, training, etc. are in place to protect the health and welfare of associates and the site



  • Ensure adherence to all national, provincial, and local environmental compliance and food safety requirements



  • Develop and implement site-based business strategies and activity plans, which support Business objectives and the segment supply strategies



  • Establish and maintain good working relationships and environment between  plant and the community




 


 


 


 


 


Requirements


 





  • BS, preferably in one of the Engineering, basic sciences or business related disciplines is highly desirable.  Masters or MBA ideal



  • 5+-years experience in a senior operations  role with minimum of 3+ years in food goods manufacturing



  • Budget /P&L experience.



  • Understanding of Lean initiatives and a successful track record of implementing lean techniques



  • Working knowledge of Finance, Sales, Finance, Marketing, Research and Development, Human Resources and their relationship to Manufacturing.



  • Background with manufacturing methods, capita projects, process improvement programs and procedures required.



  • Hands on management style with proven success in developing performance management of associates and management team.



  • Knowledge of applicable governmental regulations FDA, HACCP, OSHA, GMP
