Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders. Typical Minimum Education / Experience: Apprentice School graduate, or a Bachelors degree and 10 years of progressive NGSB planning/production control experience OR, 8 years progressive production operations experience with a Masters degree OR, 15 years of progressive NGSB planning/production control/production management/ testing experience (minimum of 10 of the 15 years being planning/production control). A candidate should possess a well-founded knowledge of Company operations, production processes, ship systems, and planning methods and schedules and/or plant maintenance activities, plus demonstrated leadership potential. Exposure to network scheduling techniques is highly preferred. Candidate will manage material for the Program. They will be responsible for managing material priorities. They will work with Construction and the Material Value Stream to ensure proper priorities are assigned and maintained. They will assist in determining alternate options based on Ships requirements. They will conduct/chair Program Material Meetings that ensure the entire Program is aware of material issues. They will cover the major material concerns, priority material and material status. They will monitor the VS performance and raise issues to the proper management level. They will ensure the functional areas are aware of and are properly managing their material issues. They will work across the entire Material Value Stream to drive material to support Construction. When material does not support, they will determine the impact by working with the functional areas. They will provide guidance and leadership to the Production Control staff concerning material processes and issues as well as emerging deck plate concerns. Position is responsible for tracking material from PIRs thru ship installation. Relocation Assistance Available. Security Clearance Required.
