Having completed the development of the NPP Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) payload and preparing for production of this instrument for the NPOESS program, Northrop Grumman in Azusa, CA needs qualified microwave engineers. The ATMS Program has need for an experienced Sr Microwave engineer to support the Receiver Team in the build, integration & testing of the receiver components and subsystems. The successful applicant will be responsible for becoming technically familiar with the NPOESS Receiver components, which include oscillators, mixers, amplifiers, filters, detectors, and the Receiver subsystem ranging in frequency from 20-200 GHz. This individual will be supporting all design update activities, ensuring microwave performance of subcontract hardware, generating test procedures, performing test, reviewing test data and ensuring requirements compliance at the final subsystem assembly and performing analysis. Extensive experience with microwave design, integration and testing is required as well as experience with space hardware design and producibility of space-borne electronic hardware. The candidate will be supporting IR&D activities for the development of future Microwave/MMW Receiver subsystems and should be familiar with Radiometers and Terahertz applications. Experience with designing RF subsystems and deriving requirements for these systems is needed. Additional responsibilities may be assigned commensurate with performance or due to business needs. Selected applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Designs, develops, tests radio frequency (RF) and/or microwave systems architecture, components, circuits, or products. Includes antenna design, both reflector and array systems, frequency synthesizers, transmitters and receivers. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Typical Minimum Education / Experience: 20+ Years with Bachelors in Science; 18+ Years with Masters; 15+ Years with PhD. Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering or science discipline plus 14 years relevant experience with microwave receiver design, analysis & test. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. U.S. Citizenship Required.
