MANAGER, VEHICLE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (VMS) - This position reports to Director, Flight Sciences and Vehicle Management Systems (FS and VMS) Center of Excellence (CoE), which is part of the Aerospace Systems Sector Engineering functional organization. Responsible for providing the people, processes, and tools, and execution of technology, as well as oversight of technical quality to meet the current and future VMS needs of the program IPTs across the legacy IS portion of APandT, SSSD, and BMandES divisions within the AS sector. Support sector activities associated with IES, PDI3, PDIS, NARs, IRTs, and associated Sector AOP goals. Provide the discipline management function for VMS (Discipline DA) to ensure all staffing needs are met. Support the Vehicle Technology Director in APandT to assist in the planning and direct the execution of a VMS Technology RandD program essential to the current and future needs of the divisions. Manage capital assets and indirect budgets required for the VMS skill areas to perform their statements of work. Provide functional and technical quality oversight for VMS across the divisions including independent technical reviews of major program IPTs. Establish and maintain the VMS-specific tools, processes, and design manuals for the divisions. Facilitate and promote Lean, Knowledge Management, CMMI and other process improvement initiatives, as well as sharing of lessons learned and best practices throughout the organization. Promote consistency across the functional organization, program IPTs, and APandT in using common tools. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Must have proven technical leadership and management experience of the VMS discipline in program IPTs together with a combination of similar experience in either Advanced Systems, and/or technology, and/or functional environments. BS in ME/EE/AE/CE and a minimum of fifteen years total experience including a minimum of five years of prior management experience required. Some relocation assistance is available. Security clearance required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: MS in ME/EE/AE/CE. Technical leadership of the VMS discipline across all phases of air vehicle development, from requirements analysis through design, fabrication, integration and test, verification, validation, certification, and production support and improvements.
