JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary:
 
This position is responsible for the leadership of all transportation activities in the United States and Canada.  The manager is accountable for establishing long range strategies and for directing the tactical activities of the management team and third party provider to insure consistent, reliable achievement of service and cost objectives for Reckitt Benckiser.
 
Specific duties include: 
  • Lead the development and execution of transportation strategies for the North American business that insure Reckitt Benckiser consistently delivers superior cost and service results.
  • Guide the transportation team to build and deliver continuous enhancements in service and cost in all aspects of transportation for North America
  • Manage efforts of 3rd party Logistics suppliers to insure excellent cost and service performance is achieved through optimum freight rates, proper carrier utilization, outstanding carrier management, flawless financial analyses, and constant identification of improvement actions.
  • Be the key transportation liaison with Supply Finance.  Lead efforts that insure the accounting of the financial aspects of transportation is accurate and up to date at all times.
  • Collaborate with Distribution Center Managers and plant Materials Managers to develop integrated cost and service goals that insure Reckitt Benckiser objectives are met or exceeded consistently.
  • Lead the transportation team to insure all locations achieve established performance targets.
  • Direct the transportation team to monitor carrier costs and service performance, reliability and responsiveness, carrier loss and damage claims.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Supply Services leadership team to insure compliance with all applicable transportation regulations for the U.S. and Canada.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service to develop multi-functional plans that improve service, cost, and customer satisfaction throughout two countries.
  • BA/BS in Logistics, Business or other related degree.
  • 7-10 yrs Management experience in Transportation or Distribution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the development and execution of strategies that have resulted in significant, quantified improvement in cost and service.
  • Extensive experience managing the efforts and results of transportation service providers
  • Strong computer skills including systems and software applications
  • Superior communication skills - written , oral and presentations
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.  Demonstrated ability to understand and utilize financial information to make business decisions and drive improvement actions.
  • Preference will be given to candidate who is mobile in NA/Global
