Assistant Production Superintendent

BATON ROUGE, LA AREA SALARY RANGE---

$ 95 through 100’s PLUS

This brand new state-of-the-art facility is seeking a Production Superintendent to run an area of the plant. 

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering with at least 1 to 5+ years of industry experience.  

Experience with Chlor-Alkali is preferred. 

Good communication skills, ability to work under deadline pressure, organizational skills are required.  Ability to work with other supervisors, technicians and employees, often under difficult conditions. Must be able to handle pressures from operations and management. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written, oral or diagram instructions.

Inspects plant daily. Determines training needs.  Coordinates shutdown planning. Directs special projects and instructions for supervisory personnel and project engineers.  Coordinates preventive maintenance schedules.  Conducts personnel performance reviews.  Responds to incidents requiring corrective action.  

Reviews and analyzes operational reports to determine causes and preventive actions for nonconformity. Prepares daily yield report.  Provides facilities to compile, store, and retrieve production data.   Apprises Management of significant incidents and potential operational problems. Checks area vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) levels daily.  Maintains up-to-date emergency response plans. 

Makes daily inspections for safety and housekeeping. Periodically is assigned to management safety audits of the entire site.  Investigates all plant accidents and safety incidents.  Assures compliance to required safety regulations. Reviews quality data with technical personnel to correct any problems. Audits operations to assure units operate at specified conditions.  Assures compliance to permit parameters.

Reports area VCM data to the Environmental Department.  Seeks means to improve productivity, increase yields, and reduce costs.  Minimizes waste, overtime, and production of nonconforming product.  Coordinates cost control project planning.  Writes/approves purchase requisitions.  Puts special emphasis on reducing VCM losses.  Controls plant costs not to exceed the operating budget.
