Land Manager
Must have Marcellus Shale experience.
Summary
This is a high-visibility position within a new business venture/effort with the ability to impact asset value. Plans, directs, and coordinates work of Land Department from leasing through completion and production including the negotiation of all related contractual agreements
Essential Functions
- Through industry contacts identify and evaluate third party exploration projects for potential participation
- Provide land support for analyzing and documenting resource assessments on a regional or area-specific scale
- dentification of acquisition, leasing, farm-in, joint venture and drill-to-earn opportunities
- Land support for detailed, long-range business development plans including understanding / coordination of any regulatory, environmental, marketing or legal issues
- Project management; working multiple, concurrent projects within the frame work of a cross-disciplinary team toward divisional business development goals providing technical land leadership to efforts
- Coordination and communication of business development activities with other departments
- Preparing recommendations and formal presentations to management
- Negotiate and prepare CA’s, joint operating agreements, farm-out agreements, exploration joint ventures, unitization agreements, and other agreements related to exploration and production projects generated
- Keep abreast of local, state and federal regulations and developments affecting the oil and gas industry and serve as the Company’s contact with mineral boards and regulatory bodies regarding land matters
- Provide direction and oversee the work of outside brokers
- Maintain an awareness of significant completion drilling and leasing activity within target development areas
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret and analyze all types of oil and gas agreements and documents
- Knowledge of multiple state and federal regulations in the areas of operation
- Ability to communicate, sell ideas, and negotiate favorable land related contracts
- Superior negotiation and communications skills
Supervisory responsibilities
- Provide direction and oversee the work of Land department and outside brokers
Working conditions
- 20-35% travel
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Experience with advanced leases, advanced contracts
- Advanced Legal Knowledge
- A minimum of 10 years professional experience in land department with a proven track record of adding value through third party exploration projects
