Position Purpose

Support goals and objectives as established by Global Purchasing Management.  Lead strategic packaging sourcing initiatives and create long term hedging\cost containment strategies with key global plastic packaging suppliers. Manages ~$200 MM spend.  Interface with various internal and global purchasing departments as required. Responsible for the Global Procurement Manager – (Aerosol Components & Dispending Systems), as well as lead the US Packaging team and other reports.  Independently manages the global research, sourcing, and procurement of all caps, bottles, closures, tubs, and jars with a ~$100MM spend globally.

Responsibilities Include

Global Plastics: bottles, closures, jars, pails, tubes. Aerosol & Dispensing: tinplate cans, aluminum, actuators, valves, propellants, lotion pumps, non-aero sprayers, foamers. US Packaging: internal manufacturing facilities, contract manufacturers, NPD and launch support, budgeting, forecasting, and materials management support for over 4,000 SKUs.

Job Description

• Create and direct the global procurement and sourcing strategies for Packaging resources. Globally source, review, analyze and coordinate quotes, via bids or long term negotiations for evaluation and supplier selection. Work on supply agreements/contracts to enhance purchasing synergies for commodities.


• Negotiate pricing and purchasing responsibilities for Packaging materials, including unit price, freight and payment terms for global requirements.


• Establish hedging\long term pricing strategies for key packaging resources and\or other commodities that have underlying market place impact on the business outside of raw materials.


• Initiate and achieve aggressive cost saving ideas and projects to meet operations objectives and goals.


• Lead and direct the Regional Purchasing Managers with new global product introductions, line extensions and promotions to meet required ship dates and volume requirements.

Education/Requirements

• Must have Extrusion and Injection Molding experience with High Density Polyethylene and Polypropylene Resins.


• Emphasis on Extruded Blow Molding of Bottles, Injection Molding for Various items and Extrusion Blow Molding and\or Lamination structures for Tubes.


• Experience with High Viscosity, Spray Pumps, Aluminum and Tinplate Metal Cans, Propellant Valves & Actuators, Pressure Sensitive Printed Labels, and other packaging materials are a plus.


• 10-15 years experience in Global purchasing in Consumer Packaged Goods


• BS, BA or and MA, CPM certification, SAP


• Supervisory/Leadership Experience
