JOB DESCRIPTION

With the economic roller coaster of 2008/2009, this company downsized and remained profitable. In last 60 days, new contracts have been secured, private equity financing is in place, and this position is being added to support both reorganization and growth. This is a make-to-contract, job shop setting that supports global technology driven OEMs. Overall objective is to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, design, implement and execute strategies and manage plans to ensure lowest cost, highest quality and best delivery throughout the supply chain.  LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY.


 


OPPORTUNITY:  Will be responsible for inventory control, production planning & scheduling, purchasing, distribution, logistics, shipping & receiving. Expectations are that business will move to a multi-shift operation quickly. Key goals over next 3-6 months are:



  • Create a more proactive and an efficient production and supply chain operation that is viewed as a strategic component of the business rather than strictly tactical.

  • Develop a plan to upgrade any process, procedure, control, and policy to become more of a lean/Six Sigma model. Current throughput is too low to meet customer expectations.

  • Evaluate current software and determine if new software needs to be implemented.

  • Evaluate personnel that report to this role and make decisions on who is worth future investment, who needs to be replaced, and what key talent needs to be added.


 


Core responsibilities include:



  • Implement a fully functional supply chain management infrastructure.

  • Manage inventory levels to ensure on-time delivery and to continually reduce costs.

  • Oversee all phases of production tracking to ensure schedule compliance and predetermined ship dates are met.

  • Negotiate purchasing agreements and establish/maintain long-term relationships with suppliers to ensure maximum flexibility and minimized liability.

  • Implement and manage supplier rating system based on key performance metrics. 

  • Assist in the design and implementation of lean manufacturing concepts and techniques.

  • Partner across all disciplines to develop and implement on-going strategies and reduce costs in operations.


 


REQUIREMENTS:  BS required; MBA/MS or CPIM ideal. Type “A” personality sought. Must be self-motivated; make-it-happen; results-driven; able to multi-task in a fast paced environment; strong problem solver; team builder.  Seek 5+ years of production and supply chain management experience within a job shop, make-to-contract, or build-to-order manufacturer of plastics, metals, composites, or ceramic products. Must have experience with purchasing, expediting, MRP/ ERP systems, quality/continuous improvement initiatives, and supplier contract negotiations.  Must have lean manufacturing and/or continuous improvement experience.
