This position can be located out of one of our roofing plant locations (Atlanta, GA, Brookville, IN, Compton, CA, Denver, CO, Houston, TX, Irving, TX, Jacksonville, FL, Kearny, NJ, Medina, OH, Minneapolis, MN, Portland, OR, Savannah, GA, Summit, IL).

Summary of Position:

The incumbent serves as the division process engineer applying analytical solutions, using Lean/6 Sigma methodologies, to chronic and/or complex problems within plant or division operations. This role is responsible for the development and execution of process improvement strategies, including those of a stabilizing, or step change, in nature.

The incumbent is considered a generalist with respect to applied roofing and asphalt process technologies as well as specialist in at least one of the following:
• Materials science
• Web-handling & processing
• Sheet coating process
• Granule handling & application
• Shingle fabrication & lamination
• Packaging

Typical Responsibilities include:
• Leading or participating in multiple projects and project teams in the investigation, problem analysis, alternative evaluation and implementation of permanent solutions to chronic issues using data based solutions such as the use of Six Sigma problem solving techniques.
• Work closely with plant manufacturing leadership, technical leaders and manufacturing engineers.
• Act as an advisor, coach and educator.
• Provide technical assistance to operations personnel for roofing process equipment operations and control.
• Document solutions, provide training for correction and/or implementation of solutions; function as a roofing technical operations expert within the division. • Bring best-in-class techniques, procedures, processes and know-how into the plant operations: equipment, facilities, production processes with focus on analytical solutions. An understanding of the complex interactions of roofing materials is required.
• Provide expertise in latest related automation and control technologies.
• Create an environment where networking, sharing of best practices and implementation of common systems becomes the norm.
• Provide technical/process expertise, assistance and support to other Roofing and Asphalt businesses as needed.


Education/Experience Required:

• BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering, with working knowledge of basic engineering and statistical principles.
• 10 or more years in a manufacturing environment in an electrical/chemical/mechanical or process engineering.
• Six sigma green belt certified(Black Belt preferred)
• Roofing and asphalt product & process knowledge, including process controls.
• Demonstrated competence in thermodynamics and heat balance calculations and understanding of hydraulic flows.

Must be eligible to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis.
