Based in Ohio and reporting to the Senior Vice President and General Manager – Global CT, the VP R&D is responsible for the overall technology roadmap of the Global CT imaging portfolio including the specification, design, development and release of all products encompassing CT, PET/CT, and SPECT/CT mechanical, electrical, electronic and/or software subsystems. The total staff is 300+ and is supported by a substantial R&D budget.
Your Responsibilities:
The successful candidate must assure our products meet or exceed the customer’s needs in terms of image quality, ease of use, and overall clinical performance, and must establish/maintain world-class development processes which operate in an FDA guided medical device development environment to contribute to the profitability of the business. As a member of the CT executive staff, this position is an integral part of the leadership of Global.
CT business operations located in the United States, Israel, Netherlands, and China and makes recommendations and decisions affecting the entire company.
Direct reports include: Sr. Director R&D, Sr. Director R&D Haifa, R&D Project Controller, Chief Technology Director, and dotted line to Head R&D MJV (China JV).
He or she will work closely and collaboratively with Program and Project Management leaders, various engineering disciplines, manufacturing, and others in the successful execution of business initiatives, goals and objectives. He/she will regularly interact with other executive staff within CT and will interface, to a lesser extent, with other Medical Systems executives and global personnel as needed.
Direct, and manage, all aspects of the Global CT Technology Roadmap. Works with the SVP-GM & CFO, and other staff as appropriate to facilitate achievement of financial and other business objectives – both quantitative and qualitative. Maximizes the efficient utilization of resources.
Provides short-term and strategic direction in the development and release of products, technological components, subsystems and systems including features consistent with multi-year product roadmaps.
Fosters ongoing inter- and intra-departmental communications across R&D at multiple sites to ensure effective, non-duplicative efforts in the design of products.
Leads departments in identifying, and capitalizing on, opportunities for synergies in activities.
Direct and manage development activities related to the China Greenfield and the joint venture project (MJV).
Ensure the development of effective staff, systems, and procedures.
In collaboration with Marketing and PRP, set or adjust project priorities as necessary to meet changes in the business requirements or competitive challenges.
Leads the development and implementation of robust, upgradeable product designs meeting regulatory agency standards and norms across an array of product categories and global markets
Effectively team with other members of the executive staff to support and direct the affairs of the entire CT business, including, but not limited to; product strategy, operations, finance, sales, human resources and legal.
Establish and/or maintain an on-going Process Improvement initiative within hardware and software development including external benchmarking and analysis to lead improvements in productivity and quality.
Commissions and leads the Global CT Research Council based on equitable representation of CT and various other related stakeholders, including members of the
Product Roadmap Committee.
Engage and utilize the input from customers regarding product effectiveness; ensuring the timely dissemination of information to Research & Development (R&D) to align functional areas activities with customers needs.

• Demonstrated leadership skills are required to direct multiple functions (e.g., people, research,
development, hardware, software) in achieving objectives in accordance with established quality and time-to-market expectations across multiple global sites and markets.

• Minimum 12 - 15 + years of related management and technical management experience in a
high technology company, environment, or industry. Successful professional leadership and Sr. Management experience from within a growth oriented large scale business environment – preferred.
• Extensive knowledge and/or experience within the medical diagnostic imaging industry or
related industry is required.
• The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s/Masters degrees in Engineering or related
field, or an MBA with equivalent related experience in lieu of advanced Engineering degree.
