Currently we are searching for a Senior Vice President of Store Development to lead our Real Estate, Construction & Facilities and New Stores Departments in Potomac, MD.  This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to impact our business as a critical component by executing programs that offer new ideas to the executive leadership team and by implement these ideas by utilizing internal and external sources.

Essential Functions:

• Develop & lead a team of real estate, construction, facilities, store planning & store opening professional.


• Work with the owners to develop short & long term real estate strategy to support company growth


• Supervise site selection and demographic research


• Coordinate with external design team


• Plan, implement & deliver construction schedule


• Hire & manage relationships with core contractors & preferred vendors


• Formulate & manage entire budgeting process from pre-construction to opening


• Coordinate & monitor permitting & approval process to ensure compliance


• Ensure quality construction through value engineering


• Identify & execute strategies for lowering new store, remodel & store opening expenditures


• Provide weekly updates to owners


• Collaborate with field operations team for new store transition & remodel process


• Create & execute process improvements for area of responsibility


• Develop facilities management best practices 

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience as a Vice President in construction & new stores development


• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management or Business


• Multiple years in a leadership position with a big box retailer


• Proven track record of delivering projects on time & on budget


• Experience working with entrepreneurial owners & tenured department heads


• Multiple years in a start-up & growth organization


• Excellent organization, negotiation & analysis skills


• Strong consensus building skills


• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with internal & external business partners


• Excellent coaching & mentoring skills (staff of 12-16)


• Superb interpersonal skills


• Flexible, resilient & comfortable with ambiguity


• Ability to travel 20-25%


• Computer skills: Advanced Microsoft Office, CAD, Access, and Graphite


• Ability to travel, visit construction sites, stand for long periods of time & climb ladders both inside & outside of buildings.
