The Director of Legal Operations and Centralized Services is responsible for leading Asset Acceptance’s Legal Operations team and managing the litigation process handled in-house. This role is also responsible for the company’s mail and document scanning operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand and demonstrate the principles of the Company’s Mission, Vision and Values.
- Establish and execute Legal Operations strategies to maximize legal collections while managing legal and departmental expenses. Functional responsibilities include:
predictive modeling and account selection
suit filing and service of process
litigation and answers
securing judgments
locating debtor assets and pursuing collections through available post-judgment remedies
- Manage all mailroom, legal mailroom and scanning operations in support of AACC operations.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve AACC profitability through cost reduction, process improvement, revenue growth and diversification. Formulate improvement strategies/solutions based on robust analytics and business knowledge. Develop comprehensive business cases for identified opportunities.
- Align and syndicate cross-functional initiatives with impacted departmental leaders.
- Assist with preparing department financial budgets and strategic plans. Monitor activity reports and financial statements and identify trends; take a proactive approach working with Vice President Legal to ensure financial objectives and strategic plans are met.
- Ensure departmental procedures strictly comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations.
- Provide leadership and direction to department associates and management.
o Actively support associate development opportunities through ongoing coaching, feedback and effective performance management.
o Provide guidance and/or assist in associate relations issues and concerns.
o Partner with Human Resources to maintain required staffing levels.
o Ensure department associates strictly comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a business related field required, MBA preferred.
- Experience: Minimum five years proven operations and people leadership experience. Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement and change management initiatives. Legal collections experience strongly preferred.
- Language/Communication/Interpersonal: Excellent presentation skills. Ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Strong verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and active listening skills. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Analytical: Strong analytical skills with ability to identify improvement opportunities, evaluate options and develop solutions. Ability to develop comprehensive reports and performance dashboards that represent information clearly and concisely to aid in decision making. Ability to analyze trends and key metrics including financial and budgetary reports, portfolio performance, and process efficiency. Ability to multi-task ,detail oriented with strong project management, organization and time management skills.
- Technical: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Word and Access. Knowledge of collection software and dialer technology preferred.
- Supervisory: Strong people leader with experience in attracting, developing and retaining talent. Ability to develop, motivate and inspire a large team of associates.
- Other: Knowledge of FDCPA
Other Work Requirements May be required to work overtime. Up to 15 % travel required.
