JOB DESCRIPTION: A leading diversified, multi-platform industrial company with over seven thousand employees located at more than thirty manufacturing facilities worldwide, is in need of hiring a Commodity Manager. The individual will be responsible for supporting three plant sites (one division). Responsibilities are as follows:
- Establishes division level procurement strategies for assigned spend, collaborates to insure incorporation and business unit participation.
- Champion of the Strategic Sourcing processes, ensures consistent application of processes, drives strategic thinking within the supply chain organization.
- Oversees all activities related to the management of assigned spend, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity/service.
- Recruit, maintain and manage world-class suppliers with focus on total systems cost improvements while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
- Plans, organizes, directs, controls and communicates all strategic sourcing activities related to assigned spend.
- Drives participation on Global Supply Chain advisory team assuring coordination and communication of agreed upon activities.
- Proactively and routinely drives spend analysis activities identifying strategic sourcing opportunities within assigned commodities and throughout the SC environment where applicable.
- Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, terms/ conditions, and acceptability of items to specifications.
- Develops a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service across multiple global locations.
- Negotiate or supervise the negotiation of complex requests for products, equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future (industry trends in pricing and availability that will impact the business) material availability, and prepares market analysis reports.
- Proactively establishes and implements countermeasures to negative market trends and missed objective performance.
- Jointly develop and monitor with Group Level SC leaders adherence to agreed upon policies and procedures.
- Support development and implementation of enabling technologies.
- Drives innovation and a focus on continuous improvement within the supply chain organization.
- Designs, implement, manage, and monitor procurement reporting systems to assure company requirements are attained.
- Responsible for timely reporting to agreed upon KPI’s and presenting Strategic Sourcing plans.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, or Business.Masters / MBA a major plus.
- C.P.M. or C.P.I.M. a major plus.
- 5 + years of direct Procurement experience.
- Must have experience in LCR, Supplier Qualification, and Contract Negotiating.
- Understanding of Lean principles and Demand Flow techniques.
- Ability to analyze strategic options.
- Project management & problem solving skills.
- Experience leading cross functional teams.
- Effectively works under a matrix management structure.
- Travel (global) up to 50%.
