Job Description

The Global Logistics Manager is accountable for:

* The performance of the warehousing & transportation systems within the company (Europe, Americas, Asia), including the movement of finished goods and major raw material monomers.

* Insuring cost and service performance meet the commercial needs of the business.

* Establishing short and long-term strategic improvements in the logistics chain to improve costs and customer performance and for establishing new capabilities.

* Providing leadership to large logistics related projects.

* Providing leadership in the negotiation of major logistics contracts.

* Setting direction, establishing priorities, and providing coaching of the logistics team.

* Building a strong global logistics organization.

* Managing and developing global logistics personnel.

* Managing outsourced logistics operations and logistics commercial activities globally.

* Establishing and meeting the global logistics budget.


Qualification

Successful candidates for this position have:

* Supply Chain Management or Supply Chain Consulting (7 years) experience.

* Warehouse Operations, Inventory Controls, and Process Improvement experience.

* Transportation Carrier Operations & Process Improvement knowledge (all modes).

* Private fleet operations/or 3PL transportation management and process improvement exp.

* Development and management of KPI’s that drive logistics operations effectiveness

* Experience negotiating contracts, including 3PLs

* Technical understanding of cost and service optimization of logistics operations.

* International shipping (incoterms, freight forwarding, customs clearance)

* Minimum of a Bachelors degree – Masters preferred in engineering, business, or supply chain.



Preferred Additional Skills:

* Technical understanding of cost and service optimization of logistics operations

* Professional Certifications (e.g. APICS, Six Sigma Certified, Lean Manufacturing)

* Industry experience in which transportation is critical to success (e.g. Frito Lay, Pepsi, Coca Cola, Dell, FedEx, UPS as some examples)

* Manufacturing operations knowledge

* Prior operations experience in a 3PL organization

* Knowledge of logistics systems and optimization tools (e.g. WMS, TMS, i2, Manugistics)

* Experience with dry and liquid bulk chemical movements via road, rail, barge, etc
