Director, Store Planning

JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Functions:


 



  • Develop creative options for new format floor plans to enhance the customer experience, drive for improved sales per square foot consistent with the company vision, and strive for efficiency in future designs.

  • In conjunction with Format Managers/Directors, develop and maintain prototype store plans and individual departmental layouts and modules.

  • Manage the store planning approval process. Includes: seeking input from appropriate parties, scheduling meetings, managing agendas, and publishing minutes. 

  • Direct the plan development for all floor/fixture plans related to the capital plan projects; collaborate with Construction on timelines to meet deliverables consistent with the annual goals.

  • Collaboratively develop scope of work for remodels. Includes as-built plans, equipment condition review, and consumer metrics review/gap analysis. 

  • Maintain equipment and fixture standards in strict collaboration with Store Development and Non-Resale Purchasing.

  • Collaborate with Merchandising Services to create synergies related to computer systems, plan development and plan reviews

  • Provide direct supervision for two (2) store planning Associates.


 


Minimum Requirements:


 


Education:



  • Bachelors degree in building design or architecture, or comparable level of experience.

  • ISP Certification a plus.


Experience:



  • 10 years in retail store design, preferably in supermarket industry.


Special knowledge needed for performance of job:



  • Strong understanding of supermarket operations and merchandising.

  • Must be results oriented with a strong work ethic

  • Highly creative and visual.

  • Highly collaborative and organized.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (including presentation skills and oral/written communication skills).

  • Proven leadership ability.

  • Ability to identify and facilitate resolution of issues and conflicts that may arise with other departments.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Strong Computer Aided Design (CAD) skills. (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation)
