Job Responsibilities :


Working with the Director of Manufacturing, this position exists to drive improved operational performance for the Pipe and Foundations Group through the implementation of Lean Sigma-based initiatives, a systematic and disciplined approach to process improvement, process innovation, design and redesign. Operational performance includes improved quality, profitability, margins and productivity. Will perform as the PFG resource to partner with sales, marketing, customer service and operations to lead all operational, tactical and strategic supply chain initiatives in support of the Pipe and Foundations Group 5 year strategic plan.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Improvement: Project Selection, Project Planning, Management and Review
•Generate ideas and/or identify the best project opportunities that impact profitability and/or productivity
•Lead Process Improvement/Lean Sigma teams in determination of root cause and correction in resolution of key quality/productivity issues affecting delivery, performance and/or cost
•Develop and deliver training to Project Champions and Process Owners
•Provide ongoing support and guidance to Process Improvement/Lean Sigma teams in tool usage, change management, root cause identification and process improvement methodologies
•Work with teams on Process Improvement/Lean Sigma projects and provide expert coaching and support while tracking and facilitating team progress
•Present progress and performance against improvement targets to PFG senior staff

Supply Chain Strategy Development and Implementation
•Responsible for developing strategies and leading the execution of projects in the following areas:
oForecasting, production planning and inventory optimization for finished goods
oCustomer and sales services (order management through post-sales support)
oOrder fulfillment (transportation and distribution operations, including logistics and material handling systems)
oElectronic commerce activities with both suppliers and customers (front and back end)
•This position will determine the best use of people, processes and technologies to ensure supply chain reliability, speed, convenience and the best perceived value to the customer at the lowest possible cost
•Identify and execute the ideal balance between customer service requirements, inventory holding costs and manufacturing efficiencies, including:
oSales and Operations Planning
oCapacity planning (extrusion and warehouse operations)
oSKU rationalization
oInventory optimization planning and execution
oOrder fulfillment strategy, policies and procedures (includes transportation, distribution and material handling processes and systems)

Supply and Demand Management
•Lead the monthly Sales & Operations planning discussions (S&OP) by comparing the Master Production Plan with the Operations Plan to achieve target levels of service at the lowest possible cost. This process is the framework for decision-making regarding all major supply-demand issues.
•Monitor production schedules, finished goods inventory levels & shipments to ensure customer satisfaction and enable a quick and flexible response to unexpected changes in either supply or demand.
•Reconcile all supply, demand and new product plans and tie to the Group business plan
•Review performance measures no less than monthly to drive continuous process improvement.
•Develop alternative solutions to proactively identify and manage excessive demand (e.g. steer demand to available supply with dynamic pricing and/or work with Sales to prioritize demand by Customer/Product in case of allocation issues, etc.) and other volatility & risks in the supply chain
•Provide leadership and support to ensure flawless execution throughout the demand management process.
•Work with operations to implement new product launches & execution plans


PROBLEM SOLVING:
This individual must have broad business and functional knowledge. To be proficient at the type of activities listed above, this individual must:
•Know business, customer and re-supply dynamics as they effect re-supply, customer service, working capital investment, and planning capital projects.
•Be expert in activities of modern materials (e.g. Forecasting, distribution requirement planning…) and logistical (e.g., electronic commerce, warehouse management…) systems and practices.
•Understand key manufacturing & logistics indicators such as throughput potential, regrind rates, etc.
•Have specific business knowledge to successfully develop 3 Year Plans and annual budgets
•Possess strong investigative skills and the ability to present complex ideas simply and clearly


KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelors degree required with concentration in business, logistics or industrial engineering. MBA Preferred.
Minimum of 10 years experience with at least 5 years diverse experience in Distribution, Supply Chain/ Logistics Processes, Order Fulfillment, Inventory Planning, Capacity Planning and Materials Handling. Strong skills in using PC and AS400 based systems, including MRP, DRP and ERP systems (BPCS preferred).

Training and certification in Lean/Six Sigma and Supply Chain. Minimum Green Belt and APICS certification [CPIM] preferred

Must have demonstrated the ability to lead and develop teams. Highly effective communicator with strong facilitation and presentation skills.

Must have strong influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to work across functions with a very diverse knowledge, skills and competency base.
