Manager, Dairy Procurement & Risk Management

Primary function of the Dairy Procurement & Risk Manager (DPRM) role will be to assimilate data from both internal and external sources that will enable the manager and director to formulate a comprehensive risk management strategy for each dairy commodity within the various businesses. Once the strategy is defined, the job of the manager will be to execute the agreed upon strategy by securing physical deliveries, futures, options, swaps or combinations of these instruments to achieve the coverage outlined in the strategy. The DPRM is a primary member of the team responsible for negotiating and writing physical contracts for dairy commodities as well as possess the authority to execute futures, options and Swaps on behalf of Dean Foods.
The Dairy Procurement and Risk Manager will track and report executed strategies to the Commodity Procurement Team. The DPRM will also serve as the primary contact point to suppliers for supply chain issue resolution within dairy commodities.

• Develop fact based strategies from a variety of sources within global commodity/dairy markets and Dean Foods that will provide a comprehensive analysis of Deans commodity risk exposure. Use sources of data for the creation and implementation of an integrated risk management strategy.
• Work with Dairy Analyst to determine contract balances, commodity requirements and develop/maintain a commodity tracking mechanism that will report length of cover, price, risk and opportunities for all commodities on a monthly basis. Use this data to perform contract reviews with suppliers.
• Develop global commodity data-driven fact based information network to support commodity risk management decisions, as well as supplier selection decisions. Work with Analyst to perform supplier research to ensure commodity sourcing strategies are conducive to lowest landed commodity costs.
• Execute physical contracts, futures, options and Swaps that support commodity risk management strategies.
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Dean manufacturing operations relative to commodity usage and requirements.
• Prepare and review monthly commodity position reports relating to the overall performance of the commodity risk management strategies and the contribution to the Companys profitability.
• Establish professional relationships with commodity industry experts and suppliers to identify opportunities for enhanced commodity risk management strategies and tactics.
• Develop KPIs for assessing commodity risk management programs.

• Technical or Business (BA/BS) degree essential, MBA preferred.
• 3-5 years purchasing experience in dairy industry is essential.
• Previous experience in commodity futures and options trading is fundamental in this role.
• Knowledge & experience in futures, options and OTC derivatives is essential.
• Qualified candidates should possess minimum 5 years experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, logistics, and supplier management in the dairy industry with demonstrated track record of delivering results.
• This position requires an individual who is a self starter with strong attention to detail, superior analytical capability, and excellent verbal and written communications.
• Good computer skills are essential.
