Overview:
The General Manager of Federal Department of Defense (DOD) is a key member of the USPS-Federal leadership team. This role has a specific focus in working with the Federal GM to meet or exceed Federal DOD sales targets. This senior sales leader is responsible for his/her team to develop, plan, and implement strategic sales strategies to exceed revenue expectations, lead partner engagements and achieve outstanding customer satisfaction across the DOD business.
Key responsibilities include:
The DOD GM position is responsible for leading four high performance sales teams to exceed revenue and customer satisfaction goals through strong business skills and effective leadership. This includes developing, proactively communicating, and executing a strategic plan across the DOD business to drive strong growth and thought leadership within the DOD customers.
This individual will be responsible for the overall success and effective operations of the DOD sales organization. The DOD Sales Director will be responsible for developing and driving an overall DOD sales vision and creating successful strategies that reach across all DOD Services/Agencies and influencers representing Microsoft’s largest customer. The position reports to the General Manager of the Microsoft Federal organization and must have and maintain an in depth understanding of the DOD opportunities and threats while continuously monitoring key issues, challenges and trends. The position requires excellent and proven ability to grow new business as well as pipeline building, accuracy in forecasting revenue and a strong ability to effectively communicate changes to the business. The DOD GM must excel at developing executive level relationships at the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and CIO levels within the major accounts and partner companies. Responsibilities include ensuring Microsoft products meet the needs of the DOD by working closely with DOD customer, advisory groups, and with Microsoft development teams.
The position will have responsibility for; U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy & Marines, Joint DOD Commands and Defense Agencies and lead an organization of sales executives, solution specialists, and technology specialists. The DOD GM will balance long-range strategic objectives with the tactical plans of actions to drive success. Responsibilities include DOD strategy coordination across all internal groups supporting the sales teams to include individuals and groups such as the NTO, Director of Business Strategy, Specialist Team Director, Marketing, Channel, Licensing, Headquarters Sales, and etc.
Core Qualifications/ Experiences Required:
Successful candidates will be seasoned, experienced sales leader with proven ability to run a sales business and extensive background/knowledge of the Department of Defense. They will demonstrate highly developed analytical skills, capacity for strategic thought leadership, ability to solve highly unstructured business problems, build effective virtual teams, be a champion of change, and possess strong communication skills. A BA/BS degree with 8-10+ years Department of Defense sales management experience in computer software, hardware or services required. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and executive presentation skills are also required. Candidate must possess a proven track record for excellent leadership, management, decision-making, and negotiating.
