The Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) program has the need for an experienced systems engineer to serve as a lead for the Design Integration IPT for the SBIRS Follow-on Production (SFP) GEO Payload. This IPT is responsible for payload level electrical and mechanical design integration (EDI/MDI). This IPT role will be a member of the Payload System Engineering department. The IPT lead will direct the assignments of a large team consisting of approximately 20-30 multi-disciplined engineers performing system design updates. This candidate will lead the integration of the of the payload electrical, mechanical, and thermal design changes to ensure successful achievement of all interface requirements including weight and power. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate/present payload technical status to the SBIRS customer and to internal executive management. This IPT leader must also be able to manage the schedule and budget and be able to balance the technical, cost, and schedule for the team to help the program meet overall commitments. Additional responsibilities may be assigned due to business needs. Selected applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. An active DoD Secret or higher clearance is desired. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 14 Years with Bachelors in Science; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD. Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or other closely related engineering or science discipline plus 9 years related systems engineering lead experience. Strong management skills and ability to build strong working relationships between multiple teams. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. U.S. Citizenship is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: MS or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace engineering, Physics, or other closely related engineering or science discipline. EO/IR Payload development, integration, text or operations experience. Team management experience with space flight hardware, EDI experience. Active SECRET and/or SSBI clearance.
