With new payloads on orbit and others scheduled to launch over the next two years, Northrop Grumman in Azusa, CA needs a qualified manager to work in Flight Operations. Applicants should have experience in operation of on-orbit space assets and working knowledge in space surveillance and/or remote sensing. Understanding of payload operations is strongly preferred. Responsibilities will include managing technical, financial, and schedule aspects of both the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) Highly Elliptical Orbit (HEO) Accommodation Contract and the Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) Post-Delivery Support efforts. Other duties include customer interface, periodic status reporting to customer and internal management. Must have strong background in project management and space systems integration and test. Experience in areas such as system test planning, command products, databases for operational limits, state of health assessment, early on-orbit testing, on-orbit activation and on-orbit operations support required. Additional responsibilities may be assigned commensurate with performance or due to business needs. Selected applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD TS/SCI clearance is required. This benchmark is intended to be used by companies that have generic classifications engaged in research and/or product development encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electronics, electrical, mechanical, and/or chemical.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Physics, Math or a closely related engineering or science discipline. 9 years of experience in operation of on-orbit space assets, space surveillance and/or remote sensing, and space systems integration and test. Experience must include project management experience in managing technical, financial, and schedule and customer interfaces as well as technical areas such as system test planning, command products, databases for operational limits, state of health assessment, early on-orbit testing, on-orbit activation and on-orbit operations support. Proficiency with commonly used tools in MS Windows. Good written and oral communication skills. Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
