Engineer Mechanical 4 / 5 ES / 079354

With the first two payloads on orbit and others scheduled to launch over the next two years, Northrop Grumman in Azusa, CA needs qualified engineers to perform key assignments on our SBIRS program. This is a multi-functional position with diverse development opportunities. The successful applicant will be responsible for payload/ payload subsystem requirements through assembled end-product delivery and verification. Duties include general support to managing design changes including trade studies and development of critical design reviews, management of IPT schedules, assistance with earned value management, and supporting Program Reviews. These tasks will require working with system and manufacturing engineering to ensure flawless integration and test at the subsystem and system level as well as providing subcontractor technical and liaison support. Additional responsibilities may be assigned commensurate with performance or due to business needs. Selected applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. An active DoD Secret clearance or higher is desired. Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Typical Minimum Education / Experience: 14 Years with Bachelors in Science; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD. Candidate must have a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related engineering or science discipline plus a minimum of 9 years of related experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Secret Clearance or higher, Earned Value, Program Management/Engineering management knowledge, leadership experience.
