DESCRIPTION: The Sr. Structural Analyst will coordinate & lead stress analyses efforts and provide design guidance to fellow team members (including analysts and packaging engineers) on complex RF, digital and power and control spacecraft electronics. Mentor and direct junior structural analysts to perform detailed FEA and classical hand calculations on space borne electronics hardware on schedule intensive programs. Provide technical guidance in helping to document departmental standardized structural analysis methodology. Provide technical oversight, analysis inputs, design solutions and issue resolution support to key suppliers. Provide technical leadership to bring timely resolution to failure review board (FRB) and qualification review board (QRB) issues. Identify & contribute to strategic technology development and process initiatives that have high analysis leverage. Communicate effectively and professionally on behalf of the department to program management regarding dynamics and stress related issues. Assist in providing guidance in defining appropriate parameters for environmental qualification testing. Ability to work and effectively interact within a multi-disciplined team environment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: MS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field. A minimum of 12 years experience in stress analysis related issues for space borne electronic hardware; modal analysis, random vibration analysis, shock analysis, fatigue analysis and thermal-stress analysis; detailed knowledge of spacecraft environmental requirements flow down, verification methods, fatigue analysis and environmental testing is required. Distill complicated unit assemblies into feasible problems for trade studies with other mechanical engineers and articulate the results clearly in customer reviews required. Ability to provide guidance on effective modeling approaches to junior analysis using FEA tools efficiently on tight schedules is essential. Ability to obtain a security clearance and US citizenship required.
PREFERRED: PhD in Mechanical Engineering. SSBI security clearance. Final grade determination based on the candidates experience/education. Relocation Assistance Available.
