Technical Product Manager - Membrane Filtration

TECHNICAL MANAGER – CAPILLARY PRODUCTS

General Responsibilities:
Work for an industry leader in membrane products for the water treatment industry in beautiful, San Diego, CA. This key position is responsible for technical development and support of the capillary products and technology. The capillary products will include UF, MBR, MF, and new outside-in MF products. Plan and implement the development program to meet corporate business objectives. Collect and process information to inform corporate decision-makers on technology and marketing strategies. Provide supervision, direction, training and support to lead a technical team to expand our presence in the capillary market. Ensure the complete transfer of technical know-how to our International Technical team and to the sales force and key customers. Ensure that our technology is bench-marked against competitors and patent/develop unique features which can give us an advantage.

Qualifications:
Required attributes:
• Advanced Engineering degree in Chemical, Environmental or related. PE certification a plus.
• 10 years or more experience in the membrane filtration industry
• Direct experience using or developing capillary membrane products.
• Proven experience leading a development team
• Recognition in the Membrane/Water Treatment industry
Desired attributes:
• Experience managing a technical team.
• Experience working with water and wastewater treatment plants –industrial, municipal, etc.
Specific Functions:
• Develop multi-year technical plans with key milestones and deliverables identified.
• Identify new markets and applications, develop key customer contacts, draft proposals, manage risk and warranties on projects, identify technology strategies, determine constraints from competitor intellectual property.
• Identify resource requirements, draft budgets, procure engineering and/or develop tools for project completion.
• Develop relationships with OEMs/Contractors/Consultants and identify strategic/exclusive partners for future projects. Support Sales staff and international Tech Staff to advance our technical offerings and transfer our technical know-how.
• Develop and maintain an efficient system to receive and process technical customer inquiries. Implement procedures and assign personnel to support customers who use our capillary products. Coordinate training for technical/sales staff and OEMs.
• Oversee process design, engineering and commissioning of projects and ensure that they are done to the satisfaction of the customer and contracts we may have.
• Oversee and participate in compilation of technical support literature that supports sales of new and existing products, including technical papers, conference papers, and reports.
• Identify and pursue new, novel, patentable product and process developments. Manage the patenting process of new inventions.
• Identify and provide technical documentation and software to support the use of our Capillary products
• Communicate with Upper Management to integrate the development plan with the commercial plan
• Manage the Kathyd Technologies development activities. Interface with partner company to evolve our MBR offering
• Interface with Manufacturing to ensure product improvements are transferred fully and to assess opportunities for improvement.
• Develop team personnel to improve their skills, and promote healthy intra-team dynamics.
Supervision:
This position reports to: VP of Technology.
This position supervises 6-8 technical people.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
• Travel from 10-25% of time both domestically and internationally.
